BRANDED BASICS
Overview
A brand is the spontaneous feeling people experience about an organization and its products or services. It’s far more
than just a logo. A strong, charismatic brand is any product, service, or organization for which people believe there is no
substitute. The foundation of brand is trust. Customers trust a brand when their experiences consistently meet or beat their
expectations. People base their buying decisions on symbolic cues, so it is imperative that the symbols representing a brand
are compelling.
It is important to properly brand your communication materials. Whether you are writing a letter, building a website, or
creating a brochure — it is imperative that your brand remains consistent.
In this section you will find:
■■ Logo design resources to help you create a logo to identify your company
■■ Business card design and printing resources to help you create your own branded business cards
■■ Stationery design and printing resources to help create stationery to promote your company’s brand

MARKETING ESSENTIALS | MESSAGING
Messaging
Effective marketing materials contain consistent messaging. Your messaging should outline the unique benefits of your
company and the services you offer. The result of cohesive messaging is a unified company presence that exhibits specific
and organized objectives to your audience.
Let Flow help you start to compose your messaging. Please explore the content provided below for an example of Flow’s
messaging and tips on how to write your own company messaging.
FLOW MESSAGING AND BENEFITS OF WATERJET CUTTING
Unmatched Speed and Versatility
Acclaimed for its power, speed, and versatility, ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) waterjet technology is the fastest growing major
machine tool process in the world. The reason? Manufacturers realize greater efficiency and productivity by implementing
UHP waterjets into their operations. Since abrasive waterjet (AWJ) technology was first invented by Flow in 1979 (patent
number 4,648,215), the technology has rapidly evolved. Now, waterjets can quickly and accurately cut virtually every
material from food and paper products to composites, steel, and exotic metals. In addition, waterjets cut with a narrow kerf
and can produce net-shape parts with no heat-affected zone, heat distortion, or mechanical stresses. The result? Higher
quality parts at a significant cost savings.
Greater Cutting Capabilities
Flow waterjets enable you to cut a variety of applications with ease. They can cut materials from 1/16 inch (1 mm) to over 8
inches (200 mm) thick into any shape in a single step. A pure waterjet can rapidly cut soft materials such as rubber, cork,
and foam. Then, in less than two minutes, you can switch to an abrasive waterjet capable of cutting hard materials such as
metal, stone, plastics, composites, glass, and ceramics with no heat-affected zone and superior edge quality.
Reduction in Material and Production Costs
Flow waterjets require minimal fixturing and tooling so you save valuable time on your shop floor. They also cut an accurate,
clean edge that allows for tight nesting so you’ll produce less scrap material, and increase your yields and profitability.
Complementary Technology
Many of our customers add waterjets to their operations as a complement to other cutting technologies such as EDM, laser,
machine, and plasma. While each shop has its own unique cutting requirements, most find that waterjets enhance both their
productivity and profitability.
WHAT MAKES A FLOW WATERJET SUPERIOR?
Flow is recognized as the world leader in the development and manufacture of waterjet technology. In fact, we’ve delivered
over 12,000 waterjet systems to customers in 45 countries around the world — more than all other suppliers combined. One
reason Flow is recognized as the leader is because we have introduced every major waterjet innovation since our founding
in 1974. More importantly, it’s because customers know they can count on us. They know we deliver the most technologically
advanced systems available and back up every system we sell with the most extensive customer support network in
the industry.

TIPS FOR WRITING YOUR OWN MESSAGING
Focus your messaging on “how your customers benefit” instead of on “what you do.” Customers want to know what is in it
for them. In fact, their insistence on knowing how you can help them is so strong they’ll quickly become disinterested if you
don’t tell them immediately.
Make a list of the core benefits your product or service gives to customers:
■■
■■
■■
■■
You save the customer time
You help the customer save money
You make the customer feel important
You help the customer be successful
Include one or two of your core benefits in your headline. Then list additional benefits, connecting them with features,
throughout your messaging.
