Jenniffer Dorcinvil Bible 12 Mr. Summers February 6, 2013 Dear Doug: Biology Hey Doug, I see college life is keeping you busy. Don’t let it stress yourself out too much. I understand your feelings about this whole Creationism is false and Darwinism is the only right way. However if you look deeper into, you will realize that it not all that it holds up to be. Let’s really think about it. Does Darwin’s theory of evolution explain how life began? From what I have learned and know, it doesn’t. The belief that natural selection is the way life began gradually doesn’t add up. You gave several examples. One of the was the finches. In the case of the finches “evolution” does not occur. What occurs is oscillation. The finches don’t go from short becks, to medium becks, to longer beck to even longer becks. It goes from short becks to long becks depending on the season. So that does not prove Darwin’s theory. What Mark is talking about is punctuated equilibrium. The theory that evolution that proposed that evolutionary changes occur over a short period of time then a long period where little to no evolutionary changed occur. That as well does not answer the question of how life began. The evidence they have for this theory is the fossil record. With the fossil record they believe they have found proof of the rapid changes in a short period of time. However the fossil records do not show that. Causing this to by an invalid way of explaining of how life began. I think you should sit with Mark and talk more about this and get back to me. One question that you have to ask is, is evolution toward divinity compatible with Christianity. The answer is no. Evolution and Christianity have different views towards divinity. Evolution does not believe that there was a creator involved on the start of life. While Christians believe that there was a creator who started of the process of life and that person was God. For you belief(Christianity) we believe in creationism. We believe that there was a creator involved with the process of life being formed. To handle you professor situation, don’t try to out show him in class cause you see where that got you. Be respectful, but that doesn’t mean you have to believe everything he says With love Jenn
