TRICYCLE THEATRE
Background information
The Tricycle views the world through a variety of lenses, bringing unheard voices into the
mainstream. It presents high-quality and innovative work, which provokes debate and
emotionally engages. Located in Brent, the most diverse borough in London, the Tricycle is
a local venue with an international vision.
The Tricycle is located on the busy and vibrant Kilburn High Road. It currently comprises a
235 seat theatre, a 300 seat cinema and three further workshop spaces.
Led by Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham, our mission is to 'bring unheard voices into
the mainstream'. Through our work on stage and in the local community, the Tricycle
creates theatre that tells stories about how human connections are made through
differences of culture, race or language.
We are committed to inspiring young people to express themselves creatively in a fun,
safe and professional environment. Our Creative Learning programme reaches a large
number of young people offering workshops, engagement with professional artists and
opportunities to perform on stage.
Recent productions include Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti (Critics’ Circle Award, Evening
Standard Award), which transferred to New York; and the Olivier Award-winning
Handbagged by Moira Buffini, which transferred to the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s
West End.
