Product Descriptions
All plants are in approx. 3.5” pots @ $3.50 each. Orders must be received with payment in the
VCE Loudoun Office, 30 Catoctin Circle SE, Suite B Leesburg VA 20175 by
Friday, March 31, 2017 - Quantities are limited!
Pre-paid orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and may be picked up at the
VCE Loudoun Office on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Unusually early producer of delicious large heirloom fruit! Potato leaf heirloom tomato with large, dark pink-purple, low acid, fruits

strong, potato-leafed, vines are extremely compact. Smooth, firm and

Dwarf Sweet Sue
Recommended by a LCMGA veggie expert! Named for the wife of
Craig LeHouiller of the "Dwarf Tomato Project". Smooth bright yellow
fruit in the 5 to 8 ounce size range, have a highly rated, well balanced,
full sweet flavor.
Disease tolerant and prolific producer. Though indeterminate, the plant
will only reach 4 to 5 feet at end of growing season.

Luscious, bite-sized golden beauty! - Overflowing with an
abundance of fruit and true tomato flavor. Very early, ripening to a
golden orange, Sungold is one of the best and sweetest tasting cherry

The bonbons of the garden! - Super sweet, bite-sized tomatoes are
extra high in Vitamin C. Plant produces 100’s of cherry tomatoes (hence
the name) in clusters like grapes-right up to frost. With adequate water,
vigorous vines can grow to 10’ or can be trained in a large planter to grow
up to the eaves or down the railing.

Most Stink Bug resistant tomato and the most requested LCMG
tomato! - According to a University of Maryland Study, this tomato is the
most resistant to stink bug damage. A large plum shaped cherry tomato
that produces clusters of unusual, sweet-flavored glossy fruit. These 1 to
2 ounce, red-skinned fruits stay on the vine and don’t crack.
The all purpose tomato! Great for salads, slicing, oven roasting and
sauces.

Speckled Roman
Very tasty Roma with unique appearance! Cross of Antique Roman
and Banana Legs. Orange-red, 5 inch long fruits covered with yellow
speckles and stripes.
Hearty and meaty with great tomato flavor with very few seeds. Very
prolific. Great for fresh eating or paste.

PEPPERS - SWEET
Alliance Hybrid
Currently the best disease resistant sweet bell available! If
disease regularly shows up in your garden then try this variety. Blocky,
four-lobed, 4½ inch fruits. Plants produce all season long with huge
yields.
Eventually the fruit ripens to a dark red. Good leaf canopy so sunscald is
not an issue.
Perfect for a container garden with staking.

Giant Marconi
Marconi’s are Master Gardener favorites! - This is an All American
Selection (AAS) in the family of Italian horn shaped peppers.
The plant bears long 8” tapered fruits which ripen from green to red in 70
days. The fruit displays a smoky, sweet flavor best displayed with grilling
or roasting but is also sweet when eaten fresh.
Produce above average yields until frost!

Nothing says summertime more than this sweet and fruity yellow bell!
The plant produces blocky to slightly tapered medium-sized fruit, and is more
quick to turn yellow than other types.
Big yields even when summer temperatures are cool.
A sturdy plant with good leaf cover.

Snack Red
Mini, red, snack peppers are remarkably sweet and flavorful! - A newer
variety of a snacking pepper which has been very popular. The taste is sweet
and crunchy. Why buy them at the grocery store when you can grow them
yourself? These peppers do not quit and are prolific producers until
temperatures cool in late summer.
2½ inches long with strong, tall vigorous plants which can be grown in
containers with staking.

Jimmy Nardello
Master Gardener Favorite! - A sweet thin skinned Italian heirloom pepper,
great for stir fries or roasting. Fruits are bright red at maturity and taper to
become 8” to 10” long. Flavor is mild and sweet with just a little spiciness but
not heat.
Can be eaten raw as well.

PEPPERS - MILDLY HOT
Pizza Pepper
Won blind taste test in MG kitchens! - Cone shaped 3-4” peppers are
mildly hot with just enough spark to spice up any dish. So if you like just a
touch of fire, this is a perfect variety.
Plants bear loads of heavy fruit with very thick walls making them ideal for
slicing and topping a pizza.
Hottest when green; milder as they mature to red.

PEPPERS - HOT
Mucho Nacho
Mucho impressive jalapeno with a powerful taste! - Jumbo 4” fruits are
bigger, fatter and hotter than a standard jalapeno. A juicy, crisp taste with a
firm skin makes a great stuffing pepper although the best way to eat this
pepper is fresh from the vine.
Early vigorous plants means loads of peppers which mature from green to red
though these peppers are normally used at green stage.

PEPPERS - VERY HOT

Fish
Beautiful plant, Great pepper! - This heirloom pepper is variegated
both on the leaves and on the fruit. A very hot pepper with smoky
undernotes grows 1-2” long. Was used in the 1930’s and 40’s to season
fish and shellfish in African-American communities around Baltimore and
Philadelphia.
Pretty enough to use as an ornamental, but prized for cooking and
drying. Matures green to red.

Thai Red Pepper
Think serious heat for this fiery little pepper! The bright red
peppers are small and pointed and are excellent for drying along with
fresh eating. The seed is straight from Thailand, and the peppers are a
natural ingredient in any Thai dish for that anticipated taste of fire.
The plants are very ornamental and recommended for container culture
(away from the children please). - 90 Days red
Purple Cayenne
Dark purple, Spicy-hot heirloom! - Attractive plant produces dozen
of purple blossoms and 5-7” thin bright-red fruits that ripen to darkpurple.
Plant is beautifully ornamental, as well as producing tasty, hot peppers.

Basil African Blue
Distinctive , gorgeous basil! - A basil that has decorative blue-tinted
green leaves and purple veining. Impressive tall spikes of lavender pink
flowers are present all summer. Not as strong flavored as most basils,
with a hint of camphor. Great container plant.
Adapts well to indoor conditions so can be overwintered by bringing
plant in or making cuttings in fall.
Basil Genovese
One of the best for true Italian flavor! - Bushy habit and large,
slightly wrinkled leaves.
Sometimes called “the pesto basil” for its excellent taste which is milder
than most basils.

Parsley, Italian Flat
Description
Flat and deeply cut leaves! - Strong on very tall, stocky stems.
The aromatic flavor makes it the best parsley for drying or freezing.
Rosemary ARP
About as hardy as rosemary gets! - Arp can survive down to zone
5 with minimal protection. This means savory, fresh rosemary all year
long!
Arp has pale blue flowers that bloom mid-summer through fall, and
tease the senses with a hint of lemon fragrance. Airy green-gray
foliage. Reaching 4 feet tall.
Arp makes a great border or mass planting.
Thyme, Golden Variegated Wonderful Citrus-scented, variegated leaves! - Golden Thyme
isn’t just for the herb garden! It will also work well for containers,
hanging baskets walkways and rock gardens.
Brings a lemony lift to a plethora of dishes, including casseroles,
vegetables, grains, and chicken.
Drought tolerant.
Sage, Golden Variegated
Great evergreen perennial sage! - Cooks and gardeners alike
appreciate the unique, pungent flavor and aroma that it’s gray-green
leaves produce. It has green leaves with irregular yellow margins. It
forms a 1.5- to 2-foot-tall and wide bush with woody stems.
In early to mid-summer, it occasionally sends up lavender-purple flower
spikes to provide both ornamental and culinary qualities in an herb
garden.
