COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISES SABC MARKETING MARKETING MANAGER [Position ID 60000504 – Scale Code 125] Main Purpose of the Position: To manage and provide strategic Marketing direction for the SABC Brand in order to build a positive image for the SABC and to ensure growth and visibility of the brand through implementation of marketing plans with all SABC sub-brands. To use all elements of the marketing mix to ensure maximum reach and affinity with audiences and other SABC stakeholders. Key Performance Areas: Developing and implementing effective SABC marketing branding strategies in order to continuously improve the image of the SABC and build brand affinity Ensuring the effective promotion of the SABC brand through both available and innovative platforms and brand experiences within the organisation, to staff and other internal stakeholders Collaborating with Corporate Communications, Stakeholder Relations and sub-brands to keep abreast of stakeholders perceptions of the SABC and finding ways to improve it, using eventing, hospitality, brand experiences, advertising, on-air promotions and digital and social media platforms Drive and ensure synergy between mother brand and all other SABC sub-brands Overseeing all SABC campaigns throughout South Africa utilizing regions, stations, channels and support structures Enhancing the SABC mother brand and sub-brands by managing the creative design studio (Media Studios) in conjunction with the Creative Manager to ensure consistency in application of Corporate Identity and overall communication Enhancing the SABC Mother and sub-brands by managing the Digital and Social Media inventory in conjunction with Digital Manager Assisting the Head of Marketing in managing the creative and media agencies to ensure consistent delivery on SABC brand, communication and advertising campaigns Managing (in conjunction with SABC Marketing Manager and Heads of Radio and TV Marketing) all transversal (Radio, TV, News, Sport and Education) marketing strategies and initiatives across channel, station and group to promote audience delivery and brand equity Enhancing the SABC brand and image by contributing to the graphic design enhancements of the SABC buildings (including provinces), including management of signage and all other collateral Work with Market/Business Intelligence and utilise any other available research to constantly have up to date information on audiences and applicable market trends both in the South African and global contexts Guide, manage, motivate and develop direct reports within the department Continually report and provide feedback to Head of Marketing on the performance of the department Ensure tight budget controls are in place across SABC Marketing divisions With Head of Marketing, develop and manage SABC Brand Plan each fiscal year With Head of Marketing, ensure usage of RoMI (Return on Marketing Investment) tool across the Group with all marketers With Head of Marketing, ensure usage of electronic SAP briefing tool across the Group with all marketers Requirements: Degree or relevant Marketing qualification 8 – 10 years’ experience within a classical, brand-building environment with at least 4 years’ experience on a management level in a marketing environment Tracked achievements in Marketing Management and relationship building Proven track record and understanding of the broadcasting /entertainment/media environment Proven ability to implement digital campaigns and use social media platforms to engage audiences and other stakeholders Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Computer literacy in MS environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as digital environment Ability to build and maintain relationships Ability to manage both downward (staff) and upward (SABC Stakeholders and Governance structures) Ability to work across disciplines Strategy orientated and proven ability in strategy formulation and execution Able to effectively and quickly solve problems and take decisions Able to produce detailed briefs and project plans in which objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified The ability to establish clear priorities; schedule activities to ensure optimum use of time and resources; monitor performance against objectives Ability to proactively and responsibly manage a budget Excellent project, people management and leadership skills A result driven, solution orientated and focused individual with the ability to successfully lead, manage and motivate a team Passion and drive for marketing, constantly analysing trends and sharing best practice and case studies Willing to work irregular hours if and when required Drivers’ licence and own transport essential Apply, with a concise CV to:: The Human Resources Manager: Commercial Enterprises email: <[email protected]> Closing date: 30 September 2014 We are committed to Employment Equity when recruiting internally and externally.
