Learn How to Market your Business – through a series of workshops Tuesday 17th & Tuesday 24th April 2012 DCU Ryan Academy, 3013 Lake Drive, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24 Marketing Communications – the Right Fit will show you how to use Branding, PR, Advertising, and Social Media in a non-technical, hands-on way to promote your business as well as teach you the structure and steps to create your own marketing plan Designed for SME companies and marketing executives in larger marketing departments, DCU Ryan Academy will host four workshops led by Professionals in their field and geared specifically to training attendees on how to manage communications elements in a hands-on way so that each participant will learn the skills to apply to their own business. The workshops will be as follows: Workshop 1 Using PR as a marketing Tool Tuesday, 17th April 2012 Workshop 2 Branding, Advertising and Copywriting Tuesday, 17th April 2012 Workshop 3 Demystifying Social Media Tuesday, 24th April, 2012 Workshop 4 Building Blocks for Effective Marketing Tuesday, 24th April, 2012 You have a choice of selecting one or all workshops and participants will receive pro rata discounts for taking two or more: €45 per workshop; €80 for two; €110 for three and €140 for four. Using PR as a Marketing Tool will be delivered by Roddy Guiney, Chairman of Wilson Hartnell PR; Eddie Cunningham, Senior Deputy Editor Irish Independent and Susan Kennedy, Managing Director, Lensmen Photography. Topics will include organising a PR Campaign, writing the press release so as to attract a journalist’s attention; meeting deadlines; the importance of photography in getting publicity and integrating the PR with other media. 2. Branding, Advertising and Copywriting. The Branding element of this workshop will be led by Howard Kent, Director of Ancora Solutions, who co-founded brand company BFK and took it from a start-up business to one of Ireland’s top design consultancies. Denis Goodbody, of Denis Goodbody Creative Communications, an award winning copywriter and communications strategist will focus on the Copywriting and Advertising Elements of this workshop. Topics will include: Introduction to branding, establishing brand essence & vision, making the brand memorable, guidelines to great copywriting, presenting the message and selecting appropriate media. 3. Demystifying Social Media. This workshop will be led by Brian Larkin and his team from Promozoo who specialise in e-marketing and they will show you how to bring your target audience on-line easily through direct, self-contained, web based and interactive marketing. Promozoo was set up in 2009 with the aim of helping companies navigate the marketing ‘jungle’. Topics will include: Why Social is important? How to engage with customers in this fast paced world? A practical plan for Social Media strategies. 4. The Building Blocks for an Effective Marketing Campaign. Will be directed by Geraldine Lavin, Business Director of 3rd i, a Dublin-based company that specialises in enabling SMEs to grow and develop through targeted insight, tools and techniques. The emphasis for the workshop will be on helping participants to develop the framework for their marketing campaign to get the best return on their investment. Topics will include: Clarifying your message and your target audience; developing your marketing campaign objectives; an overview of the tools you can use to communicate your message; measuring the success of your campaign; examples of best practice.
