Align Research Award Program
International, 2016
Overview
The international Align Research Award Program for 2016 consists of eight $25,000 USD oneyear awards.
Research proposal applications will be reviewed by an academic committee of
orthodontists/scientists with backgrounds in either basic, clinical research or both (the
“Committee”). Committee will include one international member. Recommendations and
priorities for funding will be forwarded to Align for approval of funding. Align has the sole
discretion whether to accept or reject any application forwarded for consideration by the
Committee. Align may at its sole discretion accept an application and offer additional funding
outside of this program or may deny an application and provide funding outside of this program.
General Information
1. Funded research projects can be either clinical or basic science oriented, but justification
must be provided that clearly shows how the research furthers the understanding of the field

your institution will accept the terms set forth herein. If at any time the applicant's institution
will not accept this requirement, the application will be considered canceled and the award
withdrawn.
4. No payment or commission of any kind will be paid for anyone who helps complete the
application. If such is requested the application will be considered canceled and the award
withdrawn.
5. If a two-year study is anticipated, the applicant should split the project proposal into two
separate one-year studies and apply for the second one-year project in a subsequent
program year once the first-year project has been completed and the objectives met. There
is no guarantee that Align will offer the award program in a subsequent year or that the
applicant’s proposal will receive funding for the second year. However, any first-year results
will be taken into consideration when application priorities are assigned by Align’s
independent academic review committee.
