The Erie Playhouse Founded in 1916, the Erie Playhouse’s mission is to enrich the greater Erie region by providing life-long opportunities to participate in quality theatre. The Erie Playhouse is a proud partner to Erie Arts & Culture, a grantee of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and an Erie County Lead Asset as designated by the Erie County Gaming Revenue. Position Description: Marketing/Social Media Director Reporting to the Executive Director, the full -time, exempt, Marketing/Social Media Director, is responsible for developing and implementing marketing, public relations, and advertising strategies to achieve the organization’s earned income and branding goals. The Marketing/Social Media Director works with other members of the staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners to nurture and promote the artistic vitality, financial stability, and core values of the organization. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Developing, creating, and managing promotional agenda for every Mainstage and Youtheatre show, Concerts, and Special Events. Developing and executing strategies for single ticket and season ticket sales Working with the Executive Director and other staff to define design and branding goals in house and executing relevant art or coordinating with outside ad agency /graphic designer to create art for online ads, flyers, posters, banners, and other printed materials, including season brochures and playbills. Managing all media relationships, scheduling and coordinating promotional opportunities for upcoming productions and events. Updating website with current show and event information Developing a comprehensive marking strategy that includes social media, online advertising, print, direct mail, and outdoor advertising. Gathering and analyzing information to track audience reaction to specific productions, demographics, and other patron behavior. Managing all social media accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter, implementing strategies to boost engagement and patron loyalty Creating and maintaining annual marketing budgets Staff liaison to the marketing and development committees or any board committee in that role, also acting as agent for any on-going Special Events Management of marketing and social media interns Oversight of all Playbill creation and production Skills Required: A successful candidate will possess the following professional skills: A creative and collaborative thinking individual who is willing to take on tasks necessary to achieve the organization’s objectives Knowledge of and experience with marketing principles, especially as they relate to the non-profit arts market. Ability to multi-task, adapt with ease to changing situations, and demonstrate creative problem solving methods. Must possess strong writing skills for multiple audiences – radio ad copy, press releases, show descriptions, brochure copy, e-newsletter communication, social networking updates Experience with creating, managing, and adhering to yearly budgets Creative thinking and a willingness to think outside of the box to create compelling, engaging marketing strategies Excellent oral and written communication skills with patrons, donors, press, and community partners Qualifications: We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited university in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Knowledge of or interest in the arts is preferred Previous marketing experience, preferably in a non-profit environment Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Publisher, & Word Press Experience with social media and web-based analytics Prior work in grant writing for marketing is preferred, but not required Salary commensurate with qualifications, paid health care, 401k packages, and paid vacation are included.
