Photosynthesis Video Notes
Some Protists, Some bacteria and ALL plants do
photosynthesis.
Animals benefit because oxygen is created
Glucose (sugar) is used for energy (ATPadenosine triphosphate) in both plants and
animals.
Chlorophyll is the pigment used in
photosynthesis. It captures sunlight.
Chlorophyll is found in the chloroplasts of plant
cells.
Light dependent and independent reactions
must have light in order to happen
Light dependent reaction creates oxygen
Light independent reaction creates glucose
Cellular Respiration Video Notes
Happens in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes
to create energy (ATP-adenosine triphosphate)
Happens in both plants and animals
Eukaryotes do AEROBIC cellular respiration. It
requires “air”
The reactants of cellular respiration are the
products of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis makes glucose while cellular
respiration breaks glucose.
Plants (protists and bacteria) do BOTH
photosynthesis and cellular respiration. They
do NOT need to find a food source.
Animals and amoebas can’t do photosynthesis
so they must find a food source.
Cellular Respiration mainly happens in the
mitochondria to create energy (ATP)
Fermentation is cellular respiration WITHOUT
oxygen.
