Drama 12 Theatre
Assignment
Street
Theatre
The minimum requirement to make theatre happen is:

a point of focus (could be a character or an action)

an audience
(Fredman and Reade, 1996)
Assignment:
Devise your own piece of Street Theatre (use your reading of pages 7-17 in Essential Guide to Making
Theatre to assist you).
This type of theatre should strive to be entertaining, but you should also want people to look and to
think again: to give ordinary, everyday activities a new meaning or to take the bizarre and treat it as if
were normal. Decide what effect you want to achieve and why. However funny it is, good comedy often
has a deeper meaning.
You may work as a solo performer or in any group size of your choosing.
Due Date: Performances will take place on or before _______________________
