Job Description: Business Development Manager Overview The Business Development Manager’s role is to create and nurture relationships with our clients, and bring business in to the company. They are responsible for the management and delivery of all sales and marketing activity, working closely with the Directors and the Senior Management Team. Main Purpose of Job Setting sales and marketing KPIs to achieve the strategic aims of the business. Responsible for the achievement of DESQ’s sales targets. Responsible for the planning and reporting of DESQ’s sales and marketing activities. Responsible for bid writing and tender submissions, in collaboration with the Creative Director and Producers. Responsible for the implementation of all marketing activity. Networking and activity to maintain existing clients and generate new clients. Scope of Job Responsible to: Creative Director Responsible for: Salary: Planning, managing and delivering the company’s sales and marketing strategy; management of all sales and marketing activities. £40k, plus bonus Location: Sheffield, with frequent travel Main Duties SALES Day to day leadership and management of the sales and marketing activities at DESQ. Attending meetings with partners, clients and potential clients. Maximising inbound sales opportunities. Updating the CRM effectively with all appropriate data and providing accurate MI to the Senior Management Team and Directors. Reporting on activities towards targets to the Senior Management Team and Directors. Leading the bid / tender writing process, in collaboration with the Creative Director and Producers as appropriate. Researching potential target industries and customers. As part of the Senior Management Team, ensuring that sales and production activity and targets are aligned. MARKETING Implementing DESQ’s marketing strategy. Leading all marketing activity and ensuring it fits with the marketing strategy. Development of case studies and marketing collateral. Managing the company’s social media accounts and posting relevant content. Arranging for the company to attend relevant industry events and conferences. Reporting on activities towards targets to the Senior Management Team and Directors. ADMIN Prepare for and chair the weekly sales meeting. Manage and organise the business development folders, ensuring content is up to date and reusable. Performance Criteria Ability to communicate DESQ’s offer to clients and partners Achievement of DESQ’s sales targets Effective response to sales opportunities Ability to meet deadlines Ability to maintain high standards of written and interpersonal communication Ability to work effectively as part of the Senior Management Team Ability to tailor sales and marketing activity to DESQ’s strategic aims Ownership, initiative and flexibility to the responsibilities of the job Key attributes and skills At least 3 years’ experience in a sales role for a digital agency, with a proven track record of both Account Management and new client sales Articulate, friendly and presentable Good team player Self-motivated Organised and efficient Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Strong communication skills Excellent motivational and leadership skills Persuasive and assertive with the ability to deal with uncomfortable situations Desirable knowledge/skills: Experience of the e-learning industry Understanding of typical activities and production processes within a digital agency
