HS CPA Biology Summer Requirements
Teacher: Mrs. Jodi Singletary
All ninth grade CPA students will be required to complete summer task. CPA courses
are more rigorous. This does not mean the content will be different; however, there will
be a more challenged approach to the content of Biology.
TASK: Students will identify the structure and function of the following organelles
(parts). Students should also be able to determine whether the structures are prokaryotic
or eukaryotic. Students will handwrite the information as shown below:
EXAMPLE:
Nucleus
Structure: large central structure surrounded by a nuclear membrane
Function: control center of the cell containing genetic information (DNA)
Location: only eukaryotic cells
Organelles to know upon entering 9th grade CPA Biology:
Nucleus
Nucleolous
Endoplasmic Reticulum- both types
Ribosomes
Golgi Body (apparatus)
Lysosomes
Vacuoles
Centrioles
Cell Wall
Cell Membrane
Cytoplasm
Chloroplast
Chlorophyll
Mitochondria
Cytoskeleton
Students will be assessed on this information at the beginning of school with the
assumption that each student studied the content and took a proactive role in their
learning. If students do not know the content on assigned date, other arrangements will
be made for student placement.
