January Book Report Project Science Fiction The book report project for the month of January will be on a Science Fiction book. A book that is considered “science fiction” usually includes future science or technology in the plot of the story. Often, the story will include time travel, robots, aliens, superhuman powers, and/or computers. Students can find a list of science fiction books on the back of this sheet. The book students read for this project MUST be at least 75 pages in length!! After reading their science fiction book, students are to make a diorama of their favorite part of the book. A diorama is a 3-D model, usually made from a shoebox (but it could be made with other materials). The diorama should include a background and details that show the setting of the part you’ve selected, as well as 3-D models of the characters and details of the event. PLEASE put forth your best effort and make your diorama neat and creative! In addition to a diorama, students will need to write a summary of their book. The summary should not be longer than one page, but should be at least one paragraph in length. The diorama and summary are to be turned in together with the student’s name on them. Projects will be graded using the following rubric: Project Component Diorama includes Character(s) Diorama includes details of setting Diorama is neat & colorful Summary is accurate Summary is grammatically correct Summary is neatly written or typed Creativity TOTAL Possible Points 20 20 15 20 10 10 5 100 This book report project is due on Friday, January 30th!!!
