Nonfiction Book Project
You have just landed in North Carolina from the planet Polamalu. You want to
learn as much as possible about these strange new creatures, including their history,
culture, planet, and achievements. Amazingly you speak, read, and write English very
well. To learn about these creatures you are going to pick a nonfiction book and read
about them.
The first step is to pick a nonfiction book from a library. Your book and topic
must be approved by Mr. Brown no later than April 12th. This will also be a test
grade. After reading your book, you must show Mr. Brown that you understand your
topic. This will be done by choosing from the list of options.
You may earn up to 120 points for this project. Each option has a number of
points assigned to it. This is the maximum points possible. Points will be deducted for
mistakes or work that does not meet the expectations. If a presentation is read from notes
or the actual project itself, half credit is the most points that can be earned. In other
words, practice your presentation. Additional research may be needed to complete this
project. Remember to cite your additional sources (including pictures). Points may be
deducted if additional material is not cited correctly.
Do not repeat details if you choose more than one option that asks for a number of
facts.
Final copies of all work must be typed or written in blue or black ink. Work done
in pencil (except for interview notes) may not be accepted.
Only one task for each point value may be completed. In other words, you may
only do one task worth 20 points.
This project is due on May 8th.
