Predicate Nouns (also called predicate nominatives)
and Predicate Adjectives
I. Definitions:
1. Linking verbs “link” subjects to some word in the predicate. The
word(s) it is linked to is called the subject complement. A subject
complement follows a linking verb and renames or describes the
subject of a sentence.
2. The subject may be linked to a noun or pronoun (called a predicate
noun or predicate nominative).
