Biology Review Mini-Poster Project While you are responsible for reviewing all of the topics, you and your classmates will be working together to review the year by focusing on one topic each and creating a clear, detailed but succinct mini-poster on that topic. Here are the topics and project guidelines. You will be assigned a topic or topic area (see list below) and will be responsible for the following objectives: Poster - Make an accurate and engaging mini-poster (8.5 x 14 up to 11x17; paper will be provided) that features text and illustrations. Each poster should include: - Title – make it clear and easy to read (also, please reference the NC Goal number near the name) - Your name and section in the lower right corner - One sentence or phrase “headline” that summarizes the biological relevance of the topic - Bulleted summary of the key points, ideas and vocabulary tied to the topic: - Ask yourself why this topic is important in biology, the “so what?” question. Use the final review outline to help flesh out some topics to be included on the poster, review your study guides and your notebook. - Illustrations (minimum of 2 hand-drawn or from textbooks, internet, etc. so long as the latter are properly cited with sources and year of publication) that enhance the presentation of the topic and that are clear in showing structures and/or processes. Depending on the topic, you may need several illustrations to get your information across; try to find a good balance between text and visuals. Quality, not necessarily quantity, counts here. Use clear, straightforward illustrations that are both easy on the eye and informative. Your poster counts as a project and your grade will be based on: Creativity (is the poster novel and engaging?) Informative (accurate and complete) Organization/Clarity (neatly drawn, logically organized) TOTAL Topics : 5 points 10 points 5 points 20 points Organic Molecules: The Molecules of Life Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells Enzymes, ATP Membranes, Diffusion, Active Transport, Osmosis Cell Respiration Photosynthesis: Using Light to Make Food The Cell Cycle, Mitosis Meiosis, Genetic disorders Mendel’s Patterns of Inheritance Variations on Mendel: Incomplete dominance, codominance, sex-linked, multiple alleles DNA, RNA Structure & DNA Replication Transcription, Translation Chemical cycles and Energy Pyramids Populations and Species Interactions Natural Selection and Evidences of Evolution Classification Systems and Diagrams Adaptations Immunity
