It is suggested that one of the 5 CDS interventions be related to improving healthcare efficiency 7 Core Measure #5 Clinical Decision Support Part 2 (2) The eligible hospital or CAH has enabled the functionality for drug-drug and drugallergy interaction checks for the entire EHR reporting period 8 Comparison to Stage 1 • Increased number of Clinical Decision Support rules from 1 to 5 • Added Drug-Drug and Drug-Allergy criteria to this measure • Continues to be Self-Attestation • No third party software required (However, if utilizing Problem List, would utilize SNOMED-CT codes for previous/current medical history) 5/25/2017 CONFIDENTIAL | 9 Tips for creating 5 CDS rules for MU2 • All 5 Clinical Decision Support rules should be active for the ENTIRE reporting period • Take a screen shot of the CDS rule when created and activated. Retain to attach/upload for the Attestation process • Screen Shots can be attached to the Meaningful Use Manager Dashboard 5/25/2017 CONFIDENTIAL | 10 16 CQM’s Supported by Healthland • ED1 – Median Time from ED Arrival to ED Departure for Admitted ED Patients • ED2 – Median Admit Decision Time to ED Departure Time for Admitted Patients • ED3 – Median Time from ED Arrival to ED Departure for Discharged ED Patients *New* • Stroke2 – Discharged on Antithrombotic Therapy • Stroke3 – Anticoagulation Therapy for Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter • Stroke4 – Thrombolytic Therapy • Stroke5 – Antithrombotic Therapy by End of Hospital Day 2 • Stroke6 – Discharged on Statin Medication • Stroke8 – Stroke Education • Stroke10 – Assessed for Rehabilitation 5/25/2017 CONFIDENTIAL | 11 16 CQM’s Support by Healthland • • • • VTE1 – VTE Prophylaxis VTE2 – Intensive Care Unit VTE Prophylaxis VTE3 – VTE Patients with Anticoagulant Overlap Therapy VTE4 – VTE Patients Receiving Unfractionated Heparin with Dosages/Platelet Count Monitoring by Protocol • VTE5 – VTE Discharge Instruction • VTE6 – Incidence of Potential Preventable VTE 5/25/2017 CONFIDENTIAL | 12 Clinical Decision Support Set-Up • Set-Up #1 – CDS rules based on or more of the following variables: Problem List, Medication List, Medication Allergy List, Demographics, Lab Results, Vital Signs, Department Orders • Go to IS Administration>Maintenance>Rules Alert Maintenance>New • Variables: • Demographics • Medications • Allergies • Lab results • Diagnosis (Problem List) • Med Allergies • Vital Signs 5/25/2017 CONFIDENTIAL | 13 Clinical Decision Support Set-Up • Set-up #2 – Turn on Drug to Drug and Drug to Allergy Interaction Checking • Go to Pharmacy Maintenance>Setup Maintenance>MediSpan Settings tab • Perform Drug to Drug Interaction Checking field, Set to Y • Perform Drug to Allergy Interaction Checking field, Set to Y • In the Allergy Severity Filter field, select the desired setting for severity This setting must be set to moderate or higher.
