Union Soldiers
• The typical Union solider had been a
farmer before the war who volunteered to
defend his home and put down the
rebellion of the Southern states. Billy Yank
was a Union solider during the American
Civil war.
Confederate Soldiers
• Three Confederate soldiers went to
Gettysburg. The soldiers used rifles and
cannons in the war. The nicknames of
some people in the war were Old man
Head, Little Powell , Jeb , Old Pete. In
June, Robert E. Lee had begun the
second grade invasion of the North.
Advantages and disadvantages
• They battled in these places Missouri,
Texas, Kentucky Tennessee, Arkansas,
Oklahoma, Virginia. John Brown was in
the war.

Emancipation proclamation,
During the civil ear African Americans
tried to keep out of this white man war.
At first president Lincoln said that was to
save the union not to end slavery. But
after a year he changed his mind, then
he wrote the Emancipation
Proclamation.
Eli Whitney's Cotton Gin,
• Eli Whitney sent a drawing of his
invention, the Cotton Gin. President
Lincoln had it made emptily But the
south thought it was there invention. So
many thought that the Cotton Gin caused
the war.

Address
President Lincoln
gave a speech called
the Gettysburg
Address. He spoke
272 words in just 2
hours!
The under ground railroad
It was a tunnel system from slave states to
free states. There was white Americans'
helping the slaves and they where called
conductors. They would hide the slaves
from there masters but some times the
masters find them and torture them for
escaping from there master.
Union
• Abraham Lincoln was involved in the Civil War
because he was a leader of the Civil War.
• Ulysses S. Grant quarreled with the president
and aligned himself with the Radical
Republicans.
• Frederick Douglass, By 1860,Douglass was well
known for his efforts to end slavery and his skill
at public speaking. During the Civil War
Douglass was a consultant to the president.
Union
• Harriet Tubman became a spy for the
Union army because she rescued 300
slaves.
Confederate
• Robert E. Lee continuing in the military tradition
of his father, Lee entered west point in 1825.
• Jefferson Davis was captured by the Union
army. He was accused to treason and of
planning the assassinated of president Lincoln.
• Thomas Stonewall Jackson was sent on military
duty in Mexico, and continued his service in the
United States army in positions in New York and
Florida.

over rank and military etiquette and
wounds cost the confederacy.
