Neurons
• Neurons are nerve cells that send and
receive messages from other structures in
the body.
– Sensory Neurons – Carries information
received by the senses to the central nervous
system (CNS).
– Motor Neurons – Carries information from the
CNS to muscles and glands.
Neurotransmitters
• Chemical messages
contained in sacs in
axon terminal.
• Shoots out like a
spray bottle.
• Specific types – each
fit on specific
receptors.
