Singapore is a city-state in the Malay Archipelago, founded as a British trading post in 1819.
Grew as a mix of three cultures and ethnic groups: Malay (the indigenous, Muslims), Indian
(immigrants, Hindus) and Chinese (immigrants), with the founders' culture added to the mix.
Since independence became one of the world's most prosperous countries.
Sports the world's busiest port.
A modern vibrant Garden City (in a tropical climate).
