ETHICS? WHAT ETHICS?


“I found out . . . By every trick in the trade, . . .
And that’s for sure . . . I found out, there’s
only one way to the top, that’s looking out for
number 1 - that’s me, I’m looking out for
number 1!”
“I’m tak’in care of business, everyday, tak’in
care of business, everyday!”
By: Dr. W. J. Whistance-Smith
p. 2
Are there any ETHICS in business?

No! Class over!
“Ethics
is for suckers” “If you believe in that
bunk, they’ll walk all over you”
“Where did you grow up -- on a farm?”
By: Dr. W. J. Whistance-Smith
p. 3
Serious Green = ETHICS

That’s all you need to know!

p. 4
WHY STUDY ETHICS?


By giving reasons for its judgments and
prohibitions, its central purpose is to secure
valid principles of conduct and values that
can be instrumental in guiding actions and
producing good character.
Looks very good on a resume!

p. 5
“I’m a good person”



“Being good - that’s ethical”
“Looking out for your fellow man, that’s
ethics”
“You know, do one to others - or was it do
others first?”
By: Dr. W. J. Whistance-Smith
p. 6
WHAT IS ETHICS?

Ethics. The explicit, philosophical reflection
on moral beliefs and practices. The difference
between ethics and morality is similar to the
difference between musicology and music.
Ethics is a conscious stepping back and
reflecting on morality, just as musicology is a
conscious reflection on music.
