Contact: Douglas Allen 301.473.2720 [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CELL-BASED ASSAY MEASURES HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS EFFECT ON IMMUNE CELLS Psquare Scientific is an early-stage biotech company headquartered in Frederick, Maryland is focused on the transition of the latest immunology research into tools for the quantification of nutritional supplement activity. The new assay, the Oligomeric Procyanidin Immune Index (OPCII™), has been developed as a best-in-class cell-based assay and the preferred method to quantitatively measure OPC activity in nutritional supplements. Psquare Scientific’s proprietary assay measures the capacity of select plant antioxidants, Oligomeric Procyanidins (OPCs), to promote immune cell activity. This new assay, which is supported by relevant scientific publications, is a significant improvement over current methods to measure OPCs activity. The significance of measuring the impact of herbal supplements on the immune cells provides distinct advantages from both a regulatory and manufacturing perspective as well as providing healthcare professionals with bona fide data upon which to identify effective treatment regimens. Additionally, consumers will be able to assess the supplements’ impact on immune health via labeling and the supporting numerical data. PSquare Scientific is poised to affirm that OPCII™ technology and similar bioassays are the future for measuring nutritional supplement bioactivity and that these bioassays will play a critical role in enabling healthcare professionals and consumers to select appropriate supplements. Furthermore, the development of such scientific tools will increase the value of OPCII™ to manufacturers and, ultimately, improve the quality of supplements available in the market place. Psquare Scientific’s mission is to offer scientifically-validated methods for the measurement of immune responses induced by herbal supplements and thereby empower supplement manufacturers, healthcare professionals, patients and consumers with meaningful measurements to select herbal supplements appropriate for generating the desired immune response. * * * * * For more information regarding this topic or to arrange an interview contact Douglas Allen, Business Development Officer at Psquare Scientific, LLC by calling 301.473.2720 or via email by using [email protected].
