Transcript
A minaret is a
tower of a mosque
with one or more
balconies from
which Muslims are
called to prayer
by a muezzin (an
official caller).
Domes
Domes are
traditional
in Muslim
architecture.
The Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, which was built between
685 and 691 as a shrine for pilgrims, is the oldest Islamic
monument. It was built over the rock from which Muhammad
ascended to heaven. It is also a Jewish monument as the rock
at which Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac.
