Petrography:
This processed stone has a composition close to granite. However, the clearly recognisable direction
orientation, as well as the red garnet point to a metamorphosis. Therefore, the rock has to be named gneiss.
Essentially, the properties in usage correspond to those of granite. Feldspar gets its pleasantly warm shade
from the presence of traces of the mineral limonite, an iron oxide.
Petrogenesis:
This rock has been generated in the deeper ranges of the earth crust under high pressures and temperatures
und uncovered by erosion of the covering mountain ranges over hundreds of millions of years.
Hint: The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the
colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please
take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
