JUPARANA BORDEAUX Hardness: Structure: Synonyms: Group: Petrographic assignment: Age: Colouring minerals: Average hardness: Deposit: hard slab with irregular pattern Rosa Persa, Golden Persa Plutonic rock (dike rock) Granite (Pegmatite) 570 Million years (Pre-Cambrian) Light red to brown- red alkali feldspar, brownish transparent quartz 6-7 (according to Mohs's hardness scale 1-10) / Natural stone Brazil Pernambuco Petrographie: The main components of the mixture are light red to red-brown alkali feldspar (orthoclase), as well as about 30% brownish transparent, mostly clear contour quartz. Remarkable is the almost complete absence of dark minerals. Only traces of black biotite exist. Typical for pegmatite are continuous changes of grain size from millimetres to several centimetres. Irregularly dispersed metallic shining grains of ore mineral magnetite are visible. Petrogenese: Most of the pegmatite consists of about the same mineral components like granite. Its generation is closely connected to the generation of granite. After granite magma had solidiļ¬ed and crystallised in lower ranges of the earth crust, residual melts circulated in the occurring cooling clefts. These melts were liquid and mobile due to high content of dissolved water vapour and other components. This is the reason, why very large crystal grains could form during cooling. Some pegmatite deposits have not gained importance as processed stone, but because of their content of precious stones. Hint: The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
