Science you can see! ★★ ★ ★ Horse owners rate SafeChoice Perform 4.6/5 stars... ® Research Trial Results for SafeChoice Perform ® 14% Protein & 9% Fat Objective Evaluate, quantify and document changes in lean muscle tissue body condition and other benefits of our new SafeChoice® Perform product in horses currently on a sub-optimal nutrition program. Data Collected Several assessments and measurements pertaining to body condition were conducted by an equine veterinarian in order to document and quantify changes throughout the course of the trial. • Body weight (lbs) •Ultrasound measurements by Equine Veterinarian •% body fat estimate (Ultrasound; Westervelt equation) • Body Condition Score (BCS; Henneke et al., 1983) •Loin Muscle Depth (Longissimus Dorsi; cm) • Photographs were taken to document visual changes in body condition Trial Specifics • Trial duration ~ 13 wks (96 day trial) • All horses were switched from a sub-optimal nutrition program to SafeChoice Perform. • Upon transitioning feeds and throughout the trial there was no incidence of colic or other digestive upset. • All horses received a moderate quality mixed grass hay fed at 1.2 – 2.1% of target body weight throughout the trial. • Horses were turned out in a dry lot for 2 – 3 hours per day for free exercise. No training regimen was in place. • Housed indoor stalls; regular farrier, vaccination, dental & deworming care Before & After Flirt’s ultrasound measurements calculated a 17 % increase in loin muscle depth over an 84 day period.
