Distemper – A virus that causes cold-like symptoms. It can get into the
Brain and cause seizures and even death.
Adenovirus2/Hepatitis – A virus that causes inflammation and/or failure of the liver.
Parainfluenza – A virus that causes a dry, hacking cough.
Leptospirosis – A bacteria that attacks all body systems, primarily the kidneys. It is contagious to
humans (zoonotic).
ParvoVirus – A virus that attacks the intestinal lining, causing depression, loss of appetite, and
severe vomiting and diarrhea. Parvo is the number one killer of puppies.
Bordetella (or Kennel Cough) – A virus that causes upper respiratory infection that is very
contagious. The symptoms are a hacking cough and nasal discharge.
*This vaccination is given intra-nasally and can be administered at any age. It is required for
grooming and boarding at boarding facilities and may be required every 6 months to one year.
Heartworms – A parasite of the heart and lungs whose larvae are transmitted by mosquitos and
that causes enlargement of the heart and that can block blood vessels in the lungs.
**Heartworm disease can be prevented with a monthly chewable that should be given
concurrently with puppy boosters and then continued for the duration of the dog’s life. All dogs
should be tested for heartworm disease at six months of age, and then annually.
*** Females are ready to be spayed between 4 and 6 months of age. Males are ready to be
neutered between 6 and 10 months of age. A 20% discount will be applied towards the cost of
surgery if the client puts their animal on heartworm preventative, and follows the vaccination
schedule according to our recommendations.
All dogs with no history of vaccinations must be boosted for DA2PLPV a minimum of 2 times
at 3 week intervals, no matter what their age.
