MOOD:
Your brand will need to maintain a steady focus on meeting the needs and expectations of your
customers.
In 2015 we learned a lot about delivering marketing content in order
to enrich the consumer experience. However, the main takeaway
from this past year is that to remain competitive in today’s quickly
shifting environment, your brand will need to maintain a steady
focus on meeting the needs and expectations of your customers.
So with the New Year upon us, it’s time to take that lesson and
integrate it into your plans for 2016. At Mood Media, we’ve given
some thought to the best strategies for aligning with marketing
trends – and we’ve gathered our thoughts to provide you with a
list of New Year’s resolutions which will help you stay on top of
what’s trending, and drive audience conversation and customer
conversion into the future.
1 EMBRACE EXPERIENCE DESIGN. Advertising, marketing, and
customer service are no longer siloed affairs – they are moving
parts in a complex sales cycle, primarily driven by customer
engagement. Furthermore, Experience Design isn’t a mere
marketing trend – it is an essential element in a wider strategy
for driving customer engagement, and it will shape the future of
consumer interaction.
Savvy businesses are already leveraging big data to shift the
focus to an emphasis on consumer satisfaction and improve the
customer journey by tailoring communications and behavior to
meet the needs of their target audience. Don’t get left in the dust!
2016 will be a benchmark year for increasing sales through a focus
on customer loyalty, engagement, and improvement of the overall
customer experience.
3 CREATE A RELEVANT AND SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE. Consumers
are overloaded with the barrage of constant marketing – and ad
blockers and other apps which limit the interruptions of digital
advertising are quickly gaining consumer support. Seamless
campaigns and subtle, relevant advertisements which blend into or
compliment the browsing experience are sure to become marketing
trends – so start leveraging these approaches to drive social
engagement, and you’ll maintain audience favor.
4 REFINE YOUR LOCATION-BASED STRATEGY. One of the biggest
marketing trends for 2016 will be a surge in the use of locationbased marketing, which leverages beacon technology to create a
fully customized, personal, and interactive consumer experience.
Brands will use big data and mobile push to engage with their
customers in real-time, delivering relevant, personalized messaging
which drives customer purchasing and interaction. So make the
most of the information you have available – and drive real-time
connection based on location.

2 GET MOBILE. Google’s 2015 announcement that mobile has
exceeded desktop traffic in 10 countries was a major turning point –
as was the release of an updated algorithm dubbed “Mobilegeddon”
(which phases out sites which lack mobile optimization). The
message is clear – desktop-only sites are on the way out – and
businesses who wish to remain ahead of the curve will do well
to focus their efforts on mobile apps and marketing optimized for
mobile consumption.

5 CREATE CONVERSATION, NOT JUST CONTENT. We repeat it like
a broken record – content is king. But 2016 may see a new turn
of phrase, with conversation making a royal appearance. The
goal is not just to provide great content – it’s to provide great
content which sparks customer dialogue. Web surveys, message
boards, Facebook posts, you know the drill. So start interacting
with your customers now by providing them with content which
sparks some chatter. Focus on driving two-way dialogue with your
audience influencers by placing interesting, relevant content in the
channels they gravitate towards naturally – and you may find that
your messaging gains a response that reflects the new mantra –
Conversation is key; content is something to talk about!
Remember – no matter the year or the shift in marketing trends,
some things still remain the same. You’ll never go wrong with
a marketing model which concentrates on understanding,
anticipating, and fulfilling the needs of your customer. Combine
this focus with a wholehearted dedication to improve the customer
experience and a commitment to leveraging big data and
technological advances, and you just can’t go wrong in 2016!
