Primary Position Description:
The ideal candidate for this key position will utilize their skills and experience in marketing and
communications to inspire and engage our community as patrons, artists, and donors by consistently
communicating a clear message of the role, scope, and impact of Chapman Cultural Center as the leading local
arts agency and Cultural destination in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Reporting directly to President/CEO, the Marketing and Communications Manager will manage all aspects of
marketing, communications and promotions for Chapman Cultural Center. Candidate must be versed in
traditional and digital marketing strategy, media planning, event planning, budget management, and graphic
design principles. He/she will be responsible for creating marketing strategies that will continue to build CCC’s
brand leading to increased awareness, participation, loyalty and attracting new donors and customers.
Must be organized, creative, and have the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment managing multiple
projects at the same time. This person must be self-motivated and demonstrate exemplary communication skills
with partners, stakeholders, volunteers, employees and outside vendors.
Description of Work / Primary Job Factors:











Develop and execute a comprehensive annual marketing and communications plan that maximizes on
our 50 years of providing cultural leadership and inspires increased participation in arts and culture in a
culturally vibrant community
Utilize competitive research and analysis for insights into campaign development and regional and
national market trends to develop innovative marketing strategies
Create and curate content for brand positioning in visitor packets, presentations and advertising
Enhance public awareness of CCC through increased media coverage at the local, regional, state and
national level.
Plan and execute earned media and promotions to support CCC; develop relationships with key media
and manage media contact lists
Create and deliver content for press releases, media relations, case studies, executive bios, corporate
newsletters, social media, etc
Leverage CCC awards and impact to encourage increased investment
Collaborate with CCC team and cultural partners to insure relevant and fresh content for website and
social media channels.
Establish, drive and assess the impact of existing communications vehicles and look at consolidating,
strengthening or establishing new channels including:
o Direct Mail
o Targeted Digital Marketing/Social Media
o Print and TV
o E-blasts
o Content Marketing (blogs, PR)
o CCC Website
Seek in-kind support in marketing and promotional efforts
Manage vendor relationships, contracts/scope of work to meet project deadlines, budget and
expectations

Ongoing recruitment and management of Marketing interns and volunteers

Bachelor’s degree or masters in marketing, communications or arts administration
At least 5 years of professional experience in marketing and communications in the non-profit
sector
A track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies that target a diverse
audience base for a small to mid-market arts or nonprofit organization
Strong content creation skills for print, web, and e-communications
Excellent computer skills with a knowledge of current web and social media trends to build
marketing strategies
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement special events and festivals
Strong communication skills – ability to give tours and speak publically
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-departmentally
Positive attitude and an earnest interest in providing good customer service
An understanding of the transformational power of the arts and a commitment to advancing the arts
and arts education in Spartanburg County

making.

Compensation: $45-60k; commensurate with experience
