Ceelox Introduces Scram, an Innovative Online Advertising Medium,
at DEMO 07
Scram Gives National Brands and Advertising Agencies a Fresh, Secure Medium for
Building Brand Loyalty
PALM DESERT, CA – Jan. 30, 2007 – Finding fresh ways to reach media-weary
consumers is a Herculean challenge for brands and advertising agencies. And nowhere is
the challenge more daunting than in the crowded, noisy world of online advertising.
Scram, an online advertising medium introduced today at DEMO 07, is poised to change
that.
Scram adds an innovative dimension to online advertising and marketing, allowing
advertisers to encrypt unique messages inside electronic images or “wrappers” such as
online ads, photographs or artwork, video files, instant messages, and MP3 files. Scram
is secure; can be delivered via email or through Websites; and is free to consumers who
opt-in, giving them the power to decrypt hidden messages or create their own Scram
messages.
For national brands and advertisers, Scram is a powerful medium for developing closer
relationships with customers and increasing sales. Scram can be used, for example, to
deliver an online sweepstakes with electronic “scratch-off” coupons. Here’s how it
works: A consumer opts-in to receive email or Web-based communications from a
national brand, then downloads the free Scram client. When the consumer receives the
Scram image, he or she simply clicks on it to decrypt the ad and discover the prize
encoded in the image – a promotional coupon, a cash award or a grand prize. The ad or
outside “wrapper” stays the same, but the information encrypted underneath can be
targeted to specific consumers or groups.
Scram messages and promotional campaigns can also be delivered inside online movie
trailers or other video files. Scram can also be used to securely deliver sensitive
information, such as bank statements and other financial information, without requiring a
user to log into a Website – thus eliminating the possibility of pfishing.
“Scram enables national brands and advertisers to engage their customers online in fresh,
exciting ways,” said Gerry Euston, CEO, Ceelox. “As a non-intrusive, opt-in medium,
Scram has the power to legitimize online advertising, allowing brands to deliver real
value to their consumers through personalized messages and promotions that build brand
loyalty.”
“DEMO highlights the products most likely to have a significant impact on the
marketplace,” said Chris Shipley, DEMO executive producer. “With the ability to embed
electronic coupons and prizes for consumers, Scram is poised to make a huge impact on
the interactive advertising community.”
Scram will be available in a beta version this summer. Scram will be free to all
consumers; pricing for advertising and promotional usage will be based upon the scope of
each campaign. For more information about Scram, visit www.scramonline.com.
