Human Organs and Systems Collections of different organs work together for a common function: 1. Circulatory - transports blood, nutrients, gasses and water e.g. heart 2. Digestive - takes in food, absorbs nutrients and removes solid wastes e.g. stomach 3. Respiratory - controls breathing and exchanges gasses e.g. lungs Human Organs and Systems 4. Excretory - removes liquid wastes from the body e.g. bladder 5. Immune - defends the body from infections e.g. lymph nodes 6. Muscular - works with bones to move parts of the body e.g. bicep Human Organs and Systems 7. Endocrine - makes and releases hormones to keep the body in balance e.g. pituitary gland 8. Reproductive - produces offspring e.g. ovaries 9. Integumentary - the outer, exterior covering of the body e.g. skin Human Organs and Systems 10. Nervous - detects changes in the environment e.g. brain 11. Skeletal - supports, protects and works with muscles to move the body e.g. femur
