Driven by a philosophy of continuous improvement, we honour and build upon what has gone before and aim to deliver ever more memorable theatre experiences. WELCOME Welcome to the 2017 program for your community theatre where we aim to deliver quality and diverse productions to engage all tastes and ages. Book early, as shows like the September box office smash Jack of Hearts by our patron, David Williamson will sell out. We’ve also included a new festival in October to showcase the immortal works of William Shakespeare. Our traditional pantomime will be Cinderella, followed by a double bill of two award winning pieces in A Steady Rain by Keith Huff and God of Carnage by Yazmin Reza. April brings Oliver!, the well-loved family musical plus, after a popular debut in 2016, the return of Shorts on Stage, a flurry of ten 10 minute plays. A multi-award winning industry leader, Damien Davidson Builders specialises in all facets of residential and commercial construction, from architecturally designed house builds, home renovations and shop fit outs through to product, material, colour and design consultation. Please feel free to contact us for a chat about your up and coming project. July hosts our National One-Act Play Festival and Miss Melony will present her outrageous DooWop Drags followed by the high-energy comedy Lipstick Dreams in November. Thank you for playing your part in keeping live theatre thriving in Noosa. Grimelda is after the deeds to Castle Liberty and feeds old Baron-Von Trapdoor her ‘special herbal tea’ in order to achieve this. When this fails to work, she hires two handymen Dim and Wit who unwittingly help her to try and find them. Cinders’ only friend is Buttons, who harbours dreams of becoming a great inventor. When news is received that the Palace are holding a Royal Ball, Cinderella’s stepmother forbids her to go and she is left at home alone. But Cinderella’s life changes for the better when her Fairy Godmother appears. Events then follow the traditional line and end with Cinderella marrying her Prince and living happily ever after. The three finalists are selected on the quality of the writing, not on subject matter; and the winning order is decided before the plays are presented in this Festival. During the Festival, the audience is asked at each performance to vote for the ‘Nancy Cato Audience Choice Award’. Presentation of awards takes place after the final performance. This year Miss Melony Presents – DooWop Drags. Once again Melony Brests headlines this fabulous cast featuring the return of her Powderpuff Girls, all of which are voiced by the wonderful DooWop Dolls. Then add Melony’s resident Drag King to this diverse cast, and you have a musical unlike any other. As the show unfolds...The Wop’s sing the songs the Puff’s lip-synch to. OK, that seems simple enough. But... just wait til the Puff’s have to sing for the Wop’s... and that’s where the fun begins. In a hysterical battle for lip-synch supremacy the Drags and the Dolls have a huge task ahead. Everyone will be throwing their voices, and changing a few words, or sentences here and there, just to toy, test and trick each other along this musical ride with songs spanning many decades. All while trying not to burst into fits of laughter themselves. Will the Dolls outdo the Drags, or will the Queens reign supreme?
