MAGNETISM LESSON 3
Effects of Magnetic Fields and
Producing Current
A. A magnetic field has
no effect on a static
charge.
B. A magnetic field does exert force on
a wire in which current is flowing . The
magnet will either push or pull the wire
depending on the pole of the magnet.
C. Motor- uses electromagnets to
change electric energy into
mechanical energy (motion) which
can be used to do work.
D. Induced Current- electric current
produced by using a magnet.
E. Moving either the coil (loops of
wire) or the magnet will produce a
current.
F.
Electric Generator- a device that changes
motion into electricity using magnets and spinning
coils of wire or moving magnets through stationary
coils of wire
G. Transformer- raises or lowers the voltage for
homes.
