The Fine Art of Partnering
Theatre Development Fund
EastPark Drive is pleased to be representing TDF - Theatre Development Fund - the nationʼs largest not-forprofit service organization for the performing arts. Since 1968 TDF has made it possible for 76 million
theatergoers of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy live theatre, with almost $2 billion dollars in revenue returned
to thousands of productions. Annually, the TDF theatre and dance subsidy programs, membership program,
educational and accessibility programs and TKTS booths in Duffy Square, South Street Seaport and downtown
Brooklyn enable over 2 million people to attend shows at affordable prices, while returning over $90 million in
ticket revenue to the industry. TDF has created a rich variety of programs and services - including those
reaching underserved students and individuals with physical disabilities - providing education and access to
millions of individuals who would otherwise be unable to experience the unforgettable thrill of live theatre. The
scope, impact and ingenuity of TDF make it a perfect home for your brand - letʼs explore the possibilities.

Education Programs
Theatre Education Programs
Since 1994, TDF has provided over 70,000 underserved New York
City public school students with their first introduction to live theatre
and this year approximately 7,000 young people from 95 area schools
will benefit. Offered free of charge, programs feature pre-and-post
performance discussions and workshops, enhancing and
contextualizing the theater experience. Through programs such as
Open Doors, a yearlong mentoring program inspired by playwright
Wendy Wasserstein; Stage Doors, a semester-long program
integrating theatergoing with the in-class curricula; Residency Arts
Project, a yearlong program teaching students how to write their own
one-act plays; PxP (Play by Play), a theater magazine written by and
for high school students; and the Youth Theatre Initiative, a semesterlong after-school program which engages students in the planning
and production of an original piece of theater, we hope to build future
generations of theatergoers. Our Education programs include the
participation of highly regarded leaders in their field like Hal Prince,
Mo Rocca, Frank Rich and Kathleen Marshall.

Accessibility Programs
Theatre Accessibility Programs
For over 30 years, and with 5,000 active members, TDFʼs Accessibility
Programs (TAP) have made theatergoing possible for students and
adults with physical disabilities, including those who are deaf, hard of
hearing, blind, partially sighted or with limited mobility. In addition to
providing our patrons with discounted orchestra tickets in accessible
locations, we open caption, sign language interpret and audio describe
Broadway and Off Broadway shows, award grants to cultural
organizations in New York State for open captioning; and offer an
education program for tri-state area students who are deaf, hard of
hearing, blind or partially sighted. Recognized as a leader in the
accessibility field, TDF is regularly called upon to train theatres around
the country how to establish their own open captioning programs for
their audiences who are deaf and hard of hearing. TDF is currently
partnering with regional theatres in New York, Alabama,
Washington, Wisconsin, Minneapolis, Ohio, Rhode Island and
Michigan. The launch of TDFʼs newest pilot program for young people
with autism and their families, planned for October 2011, will feature a
pre-show preparatory workshop for families, followed by attendance at a
Broadway musical. Theatre Development Fund

Costume Collection
Costume Collection
One of the nationʼs preeminent collections of original theatrical
costumes and accessories, the Costume Collection houses
over 75,000 pieces of inventory. Much of the inventory, which
includes entire opera and theatrical production wardrobes, is
contributed by Broadway and Off Broadway shows, opera
companies, touring shows, costume designers and performers.
The primary purpose of the Collection is to rent costumes at
affordable prices to not-for-profit performing arts organizations,
universities, colleges, middle schools and community groups
nationwide. Last year, we worked with 456 organizations in 29
states helping them to mount 784 productions. Also recognized
as a research facility, the Collection maintains a library of
books, periodicals and other resource materials. Every spring,
TDF presents the Irene Sharaff Awards, which recognizes
excellence in theatrical costume and set design.

Additional TDF Assets
Membership
The TDF membership program provides
83,000 individual members with access to
substantially discounted tickets to theatre,
dance and music performances in New York
City. These are individuals such as students,
teachers, civil service employees, retirees,
non-profit employees, performing arts
professionals, union members, members of
the armed forces and clergy, who cannot
afford the full price of a ticket and may not be
able to attend live performances were it not for
TDF. TDF recently expanded their services,
creating a national membership program to
accommodate eligible theater-lovers living at
least 100 miles outside New York City,
providing the same benefits and access
presently available to NYC membership. Our
members represent the backbone of New
York: a verbal and engaged literate
consumer base, attractive to any brand
Ticketing
The TKTS Booths in Duffy Square,
South Street Seaport and downtown
Brooklyn are used by millions of New
Yorkers and tourists annually and
account for 12-15% of the tickets sold
to Broadway shows. By selling
discounted tickets (most are 50% off) to
the general public on the day of the
performance, we fill seats that may
otherwise remain empty while helping
generate audiences for numerous
Broadway, Off Broadway, dance and
music productions. Last year, over 1.5
million tickets were purchased at the
TKTS booths, returning over $90
million to productions across the city.
70% of our ticket buyers are tourists
and 30% are New Yorkers.
