The
Planets
Now, you will meet
with new 8 friends
from the space ..
Let’s meet them..
Hi,My name is Mercury.
I’m the closest planet
to the Sun and the eighth
largest. I actually have a
very thin atmosphere
consisting of atoms
blasted off its surface by
the solar wind. Because
I’m so hot, these atoms
quickly escape into space.
Thus in contrast to the
Earth and Venus whose
atmospheres are stable,
my atmosphere is
constantly being
replenished.
Hi ,My name is Venus. I’m the second
planet from the Sun and the sixth
largest. My
orbit is the most nearly circular of that
of any planet, with an eccentricity of
less
than 1%. Since I’m an inferior planet, I
show phases when viewed with a
telescope
from the perspective of Earth.
I’m sometimes regarded as Earth's
sister planet. In some ways we are
very similar:
I’m only slightly smaller than Earth
(95% of Earth's diameter, 80% of
Earth's
mass).
Both have few craters indicating
relatively young surfaces.
Our densities and chemical
compositions are similar.
Hi,My name is Earth.I
think most of you know
lots of information about
me. I’m the 3rd planet on
the solar system.I’m the
only planet whose English
name does not derive from
Greek/Roman mythology.
The name derives from Old
English and Germanic.
I’m the densest major
body in the solar system.
My atmosphere is 77%
nitrogen, 21% oxygen, with
traces of argon, carbon
dioxide and water.
Hi,my name is Mars.I’m the
4th planet on the solar
system. I am(Greek: Ares)
the god of War. I probably
got this name
due to its red color; I’m
sometimes referred to as
the Red Planet. Like
Mercury and the Moon, I
appear to lack active plate
tectonics at
present; there is no
evidence of recent
horizontal motion of the
surface such as the
folded mountains so
common on Earth. When it
is in the nighttime sky,
Mars is easily visible with
the unaided eye.
Hello my friends. My name is Jupıter.
You know I’m the 5th planet on the
solar system. I’m more than twice as
massive as all the other planets
combined (the mass of Jupiter is
318 times that of Earth). I’m the
fourth brightest object in the sky
(after the Sun, the Moon and
Venus). I was first visited by
Pioneer 10 in 1973.
Hi,again children.My name
is Saturn. I’m the sixth
planet from the Sun and
the second largest planet.
In Roman mythology, I’m
the god of agriculture.
My rings are
extraordinarily thin:
though they're 250,000
km or more in
diameter they're less
than one kilometer thick.
Hey children,I’m Uranus. I’m the
from the Sun and the third
largest (by
diameter). I’m larger in diameter
but smaller in mass than Neptune.
Like the other gas planets, I have
rings.
My atmosphere is about
83% hydrogen, 15% helium and 2%
methane.
Finally I will meet
you,dear children.My
name is Neptune.I’m the
eighth planet from the
Sun and the fourth
largest (by
diameter). Neptune is
smaller in diameter but
larger in mass than
Uranus. In Roman
mythology Neptune
(Greek: Poseidon) was the
god of the Sea. My blue
color is largely the result
of absorption of red light
by methane
in the atmosphere but
there is some additional
as-yet-unidentified
chromophore
which gives the clouds
their rich blue tint.
