Set and Costume Designer
Job Description and Person Specification
We are a small theatre company dedicated to finding and developing high quality new plays and ideas
by writers who have never had their work produced before. Based in London and led by Artistic
Director, Adam Bambrough, our aim is to become the leading theatre company for unproduced
writers and emerging artists in the UK and beyond. For more information about us, please visit:

We are looking for an emerging Set and Costume Designer to join our team and play a key role in the
delivery of our debut production, Four Thieves’ Vinegar, which will run at the Barons Court theatre in
London from Wednesday 8th – Sunday 26th March 2017.
Roles and Responsibilities
The main roles and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Set Design





working with the Director to create an authentic look and feel for the production;
designing a set which will act as a further ‘character’ within the play;
building a set model (with characters) which can be used for the story-boarding of the action;
sourcing the materials needed to create the set, whilst working within our small budget;
over-seeing the construction of the set during the get-in at the theatre.
Costume Design






working with the Director to create a look and feel for the costumes that is authentic to the
time period of the play;
designing costumes that will act as a further ‘character’ within the play;
sourcing the costumes and / or materials needed to create the costumes, whilst working
within our small budget;
arranging costume fittings with the actors;
over-seeing the ‘handing over’ of the costumes to the stage management team and actors
during the rehearsal period;
maintaining the quality of the costumes throughout the production (if, and when, necessary).
Person Specification
The successful applicant will:

have some set and costume design experience, preferably with a relevant degree qualification;
possess a keen eye for detail and a personable nature;
enjoy a passion for new writing;
be self-motivating with a flexible attitude towards working hours.

Payment
Payment for this engagement will be made at £7.20 per hour, which is the national living wage.
