Directions:
Students are to choose one project to present to the class.
Projects may be created individually or in groups of up to
3 students. Have fun, be creative, and make it school
appropriate.
Role play an excerpt from a story or poem. You must include props, costumes, light
background music, and a script that is written out in dialogue form. This must be at least
3 minutes.
Role play a trial scene as a sequel to ”The Tell Tale Heart.” You must include props,
costumes, and a script written out in dialogue form. This must be at least 3 minutes.
Create a cartoon strip of a story or poem. The strip must be colorfully illustrated, tell the
entire story, and be at least ten frames long.
Create a movie poster announcing the film version of a Poe story. This must be on hard
poster board or cardboard, completely and colorfully illustrated, including setting,
characters, short plot description, and attention getting devices such as lights, fabrics,
multi-textured, etc.
Create a mobile. Design a mobile which includes important symbols of a story. This must
be colorful, multi-textured, and complete. At least 8 objects must be included.
Costume designs. Pretend you are a costume designer for the stage production of the
story. Design at last 5 costumes for the play version of this story. Pay attention to details
that fit the characters portrayed wearing these costumes.
Create a newspaper article announcing the murder case of “The Tell Tale Heart.” Include
the Who, What When, Where, Why, and How details. Use a newspaper format.
Create a game using figurative language examples and excerpts from Poe’s writings.
This game can be computerized, a board game, or a puzzle.
Create a movie. You may film a video production of a scene or the whole story. This
must be 3 minutes long and include costumes, sets, etc.
Create a Poe party by baking a cake that includes symbols, characters, titles, etc. of Poe
literature, add decorations for the room, invitations a few days prior to the party, and
dress in costume theme.
