Notification of changes to testing strategy: Hereditary Cancer Panel
As a valued service user we would like to inform you of recent changes to our testing strategy for our
multi-gene cancer panel. Details of the changes made are outlined below.
Gene content
 Updated from 80 to 155 genes (V2.0)
 Content of phenotypic panels revised in response to user feedback and recent literature
reports
 Analysis of genes for Carney complex; cyclindromatosis, trichoepithelioma; hereditary
multiple exostoses; inherited lung cancer; Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome; tuberous sclerosis
phenotypes included
 Section for testing cases of inherited haematological malignancies included
 Analysis of specific regions falling outside of standard scope of assay now possible e.g.
MSH2 inversion of exons 1-7 (for full details refer to our website)
 From September 2016 all results will be reported according to the V2.0 panel content, unless
requested otherwise
Gene dosage assessment (as previous)
 Performed by comparative depth of coverage assessment of NGS data
 Dosage changes where identified are confirmed by a second independent method where
possible
Test charging and turnaround times
 Diagnostic testing: sequencing and dosage - £860 80d TAT
 Reanalysis charge (per request) - £250 40d TAT
 From September 2016 a 10% surcharge will be added to all private and overseas referrals
Test selection (as previous)
 Select the sub-panel of choice or
 Customise your selection using the appropriate page of the referral form
Updated referral form (V2.0)
 A revised version of our cancer panel reflecting these changes may be downloaded from our
website http://www.leedsth.nhs.uk/a-z-of-services/molecular-genetics/testpages/cancer-chip-panel/
