This information and MSDS for a wide range of human pathogens and other
associated agents have been collated and produced by the University
Biological Safety Officer using materials and sources on the The Office of
Laboratory Security (OLS) within the Centre for Emergency Preparedness
and Response (CEPR), Health Canada. They have been produced for personnel
working in the life sciences as quick safety reference material relating to
infectious micro-organisms. The MSDS are organized to contain health
hazard information such as infectious dose, viability (including
decontamination), medical information, laboratory hazard, recommended
precautions, handling information and spill procedures. The intent of these
documents is to provide a safety resource for laboratory personnel working
with these infectious substances.

Along with this site is a further useful e-publication "Laboratory Biosafety
Guidelines" a compendium of laboratory safety guidelines which in addition
to GM aspects, includes safety aspects of handling animal viruses and cells in
culture as well as the potential safety problems raised by the application of
the new genetic techniques.
