The lineup includes: Pump Boys and Dinettes, a high-octane country western musical; Singin’ in the Rain, the glorious classic based on the beloved movie musical; The 39 Steps, a fast-paced farce in the style of Hitchcock; A Proper Place, a new musical comedy that strands a British family on a deserted island; and Dreamgirls, the award-winning Motown-inspired musical sensation. The 2016-2017 Season runs September 15, 2016 to July 2, 2017 in Issaquah and October 28, 2016 to July 30, 2017 in Everett. “This season is an embodiment of joy,” says Tomkins. “It’s one of the most exciting and also one of the most challenging seasons we’ve taken on. I’ve always dreamed of putting Singin’ in the Rain and Dreamgirls on our stage, and we’re ready to tell these stories in a big way. From dancing in real rain showers to the infectious energy of The Dreams and so many great moments in between, this season is sure to delight audiences, while offering a wide variety of themes and theatrical experiences. Meet the “pump boys” of the scenic Highway 57 in Grand Ole Opry country, North Carolina. They’re a simple group of boys who love fishin’, beer, and a great slice of pie from the local diner, run by the Cupp sisters. And they all love some good music.
