Two Kinds of Verbs
An action verb tells what the subject of the sentence is doing.
examples: jumped, walking, drinking, goes
sentence: Marla goes to the magic show.
A linking verb connects the subject to a noun or adjective
in the predicate.
examples: am, is, are, was, were
sentence: Chloe and Ryan were the assistants at the magic show.
First, find the verbs in each sentence below. Circle the linking verbs. Draw a line
under the action verbs.
Then, write the number of the sentence that matches each of the five pictures to
the right.
