GOAL: By 2013, the vulnerability to the impacts of climate change of targeted district communities in 2 provinces in Fiji is proactively reduced through a strengthened, coordinated and integrated approach within a national Climate Change policy and strategy framework, to safeguard and improve coastal ecosystem services & protection and the long term food security, livelihoods & well-being of Fijian communities. Mangrove Protection & Rehabilitation LandCare Building Resilience RiverCare Provincial sites: Macuata & Ba Target: 4 districts Target Municipal: Labasa Building blocks of this project Local capacity building Community based adaptation Objective 1: Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction & Integrated coastal resource management considerations has been/ actively being integrated into provincial plans with targeted grass root community input & demonstrating clear synergies with national sector policies, strategies and plans. Enhanced local awareness Policy integration Building blocks of this project Local capacity building Community based adaptation Objective 2: Vulnerability to CC impacts against coastal mangrove forests, including associated marine inshore areas in Ba and Macuata province, are progressively being reduced through strengthened management of networks of LMMA through community based natural resource management plans & active community adaptation implementation.
