Job Description - Marketing Assistant An exciting position has arisen at Grove Theatre for the appointment of a Marketing Assistant in the busy in house Marketing Department. Reports to: Sales and Marketing Manager Responsible for: Marketing Intern and distribution teams Contract: Full time at 39 hours a week Working hours are 9am - 5pm Holiday entitlement = 20 days (not Inc bank holidays) Salary: £13,500 Main Purpose and scope of the post To manage and maintain all aspects of press relations for Grove Theatre, to deputise in the absence of the Marketing Manager, to maintain and develop print distribution and communication channels. To cover the Box Office as and when required. To create with the Grove designated graphic designers the Season Highlights Guide, Friends Publicity Material and other promotional literature. To manage the Friends scheme and increase membership and loyalty to the venue. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Marketing Assistant will be required to Digital Marketing Identify and keep up to date with new digital platforms and advise of best use of these channels Construct and send E- flyers to customers on patron databases and via third party distribution outlets Monitor and report on the success of the digital marketing of the Grove using evaluative tools Develop online social media content Uploading all shows and booking information in line with launches of the seasonal brochure and when shows in between brochures go on sale Press Build relationships with press, media and online content contacts and expand the network of these relationships Co-allate copy and information for the construction of press releases and send to press as and when required Plan, develop and host Grove Theatre press launches Plan, develop and host Grove Theatre press night Respond to all queries from press and other outside sources Work with press agencies, producers and obtain promotional material. 1 Other Deputise in the absence of the Sales and Marketing Manager Line manage any Marketing Interns or Marketing Volunteers To represent the Grove Theatre in professional manner Other duties as required by the Sales and Marketing Manager Friends Scheme • Manage the administration of the theatre’s Friends Scheme • Organise the promotion of Friends scheme and develop the strategic marketing plan for Increased membership sales • Send renewal letters • Design and take ownership of the Friends welcome pack and Friends newsletters • Send monthly emails to Friends of the Theatre as detailed in the benefits of the scheme • Report to the Sales and Marketing Manager the effectiveness of marketing activity. • Host, plan and organise Post Show receptions for Friends as and when required. Distribution • Organise, develop and build relationships with distribution outlets and contacts • Build a volunteer group of distribution teams Outreach • Working with the Education coordinator and PR and Outreach assist in marketing Education events and coordinate outreach activities • Maintain raffle, sponsorship and other donation requests • Organise, manage and report on outreach campaigns in regards to show specific campaigns and Grove Theatre roadshows. Digital • • • • • • • • Update social media channels with interesting content Use social media monitoring tools to report back to the Sales and Marketing Manager detailing impressions, influence and effectiveness of these tools for Grove Theatre. Identify and keep up to date with new digital platforms and advise of best use of these channels Construct and send E- flyers to customers on patron databases and via third party distribution outlets Update the website using the CMS and maintain all content. Monitor and report on the success of the digital marketing of the Grove using evaluative tools Develop online content. Uploading all shows and booking information in line with launches of the seasonal brochure and when shows in-between brochures go on sale. Essential Have a working knowledge of social media Have a working knowledge of content management systems, RSS feeds, HTML, Flash and web browsers A passion for theatre 2 Experience working in a theatre, for a producer or similar marketing role. Working with producers and venues in relation to press and digital marketing. Ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload with differing deadlines. Ability to work within set budgets and complete financial paper work. Ability to think creatively and work strategically to achieve goals and targets set by the General Manager and Sales and Marketing Manager Desirable Experience using the Box Office system, Spektrix Own car Working with ticket agencies. Excellent working knowledge of Google Analytics, Social mention, FTP clients, Photoshop and image/video editing tools. 3
