Assessment task: Marketing Product Due Date: NOTE: This assessment task must be handed in to the English Staffroom BEFORE roll call on the due date. Outcomes: 2. A student selects and uses language forms and features, and structures of texts according to different purposes, audiences and contexts, and describes and explains their effects on meaning Nature of task: Part1: Choose one of the following marketing products to promote your place/town. You will have some class time to create your marketing product, so use that time wisely. You are required to use ICT to create the marketing product. You can create one of the following marketing products: Pamphlet Poster TV advertisement Radio advertisement Newspaper or a magazine advertisement Postcards (at least two) Web page or web advertisement Power point display Short film The possibilities are endless! (check with teacher) In your 200 words deconstruction you need to include: Target audience Purpose of the marketing product The marketing product you created for the campaign and why you elected to use this marketing product The strengths and weaknesses of the marketing product A breakdown of the estimated marketing product costs Why the marketing product would be successful You will be assessed on how well you: Use ICT to create marketing products Justify and critically analyse the effectiveness of the marketing product (deconstruction) Explain the target audience, purpose and context of the marketing product Part 2: Collect one magazine advertisement. Write an analysis commenting on the effectiveness of the advertisement and how it works. Set your analysis out in paragraphs. Include the following for the magazine advertisement: The actual advertisement General Information- Explain who the advertisement is aimed at, how they are targeted and the main message being communicated. Image- Analyse setting, body language, colour, symbolism and what is happening in the picture. Text- comment on the use of slogans, persuasive language (which includes emotive or scientific language), repetition, punctuation, font, layout, sound devices etc. Overall Effect- Comment on the use of colour, main attraction, effect of graphics, use of humour and emotional appeal.
