Dr. Ryals will give a seminar at IGBMC, focusing on global metabolism and the latest metabolom profiling technologies. Specifically, an overview of Metabolon’s global biochemical profiling technology platform will be presented with focus on the analytical approaches as well as applications to biological systems. The broad range of biochemicals identified by Metabolon includes amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and cofactors, molecules of redox homeostasis, organic acids, and even small peptides. Importantly, many of the catabolites or biosynthetic intermediates of these metabolites are also detected, assisting in elucidating underlying mechanistic insight. To enable deeper understanding of how this technology has been successfully applied and how studies are typically designed, case studies on biomarker discovery and drug mode of action will be discussed.
