Interjection
• An interjection is a word or phrase used to
express EMOTION.
VERBS
• A verb is a word used to express an
action, a condition, or a state of being.
• There are 3 types of Verbs.
– Action Verbs
– Linking Verbs
– Helping Verbs
Action Verbs
• An ACTION VERB tells what the subject
does.
Physical Action: Run, Jump, swim
Mental Action: wish, hope, dream
Linking Verbs
• A LINKING VERB links its subject to a
word in the predicate.
• FORMS OF BE: am, is, are, was, were,
be, being, been, have, has, had
Helping Verbs
• HELPING VERBS help main verbs
express action or precise shades of
meaning.

• A NOUN is a word that names a
PERSON, PLACE, THING, or IDEA.
• Common Nouns:
– The general name for a person, place, thing,
or idea.
• Proper Nouns:
– The name of a particular person, place, thing,
or idea.
– Proper nouns are ALWAYS Capitalized.

• A CONJUNCTION is a word used to join

Pronoun
• A PRONOUN is a word that is used in
place of a noun.
• EXAMPLES: I, you, he, she, it, me, we, they, him, his, hers,
my, mine, your, yours, its, us, our, ours, their, theirs
Preposition
• A PREPOSITION is a word that shows a
relationship between a noun or a pronoun to
other words in the sentence.
• About, above, across, against, among,
around…
• Behind, beside, below, between, during,
except, by, down…
• Over, under, of, off, on…
• Through, beneath, to, after,
• Toward, up, onto, unto, into, in
