NOUNS-VERBS-ADJECTIVES

DIRECTIONS:
Underline once the nouns, twice the verbs, and circle the adjectives.
NOUNS – person, place, thing, or idea.
VERBS – action word. Something you can do.
Non-action verbs – am, is, are, was, were, have, has, had, be, been, being,
get, got, would, could, should, etc.
ADJECTIVE – word that describes or modifies a noun or another adjective.
1. Tim went to the store to eat some candy.
2. Since I like eggs, I eat them every day.
3. Girls are stronger than boys.
4. Michigan is far away from Pennsylvania, as it shows on the map.
5. Whenever I get tired, I stop near a street light and go to sleep.
6. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
7. Bill is a fast learner who eats chocolate ice cream in large buckets.
8. Every April Fools’ Day we look for Easter eggs under the Christmas tree.
9. I work out at the gym every Thursday of every other month.
10. Black onions are rotten to the core, said the owner of the ugly gray diner.

4. Jim went to the grocery stores this morning to buy some canned peaches and dried apricots.
5. The Pittsburgh Steelers are my favorite football team because they play aggressively.
6. When I go to the shopping mall my grandfather points at the windows at the pretty clothes and the
expensive furniture as drool drips down his wrinkly chin.
7. Trevor thinks he is sly because he acts cool and calm when he talks to the girls in his history class.
