Senior Social Media Strategist
Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
A Sr. Social Media Strategist (aka Sr. Strategist) should be a seasoned consumer
marketer and proven strategist in the realm of social media and digital publicity. The Sr.
Strategist will work with Fortune 500 clients on retainer and project based engagements
to create compelling social media marketing campaigns that are creative, targeted,
measurable and produce quantifiable results. The Sr. Strategist will provide social media
consulting services to our clients upon launch as well as provide ongoing monitoring and
strategy modifications as campaigns unfold. The Sr. Strategist will provide specific
deliverables such as creative briefs and strategic plans for existing as well as prospective
clients. Finally, the Sr. Strategist will assist with the overall research and development of
our consulting services.
JOB REPONSIBILITIES
Social media strategy and consulting services, including, but not limited to the creation
of:
Creative briefs
Strategic plans & associated budgets both independently and collaboratively with client
and agency partners
Marketing Plans
Social media content calendars etc.
Account Management Support
Work closely with the various Account Directors at the agency who serve as the primary
point of contact for client campaigns, on ideation and strategy formula to ensure strategy
recommendations are in alignment with the client’s goals and brand positions.
Presentation and Communication Skills





Confidence creating and delivering presentations to large groups of people all over
the world on behalf of our clients.
Should own a comfort level presenting directly to Director, VP and C-level
executives.
Possess the ability to articulate and educate the client about social media trends,
habits and behaviors on an ongoing basis.
Keep client apprised of social media best practices both internationally and
domestically.
Proactively participate on internal and external client-team conference calls with
prospective and existing clients.
Business Development Support. Assist Business Development staff with creative or
strategic outlines as part of the RFP or proposal process.
Strategy Monitoring & Monitoring. Evaluate a client’s execution of social media
campaigns and strategies, offering specific recommendations backed by experience and
sound data analysis
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET





















Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships easily with clients.
Should be charismatic, outgoing, and relatable to a variety of cultures.
Can balance smart work with great common sense.
Possesses a strong intuition about people and knows how to anticipate their
personalities, needs, and style.
Experience with international social media marketing or global marketing a plus.
College degree required, preferably in marketing or business
Approximately 8+ years of overall business experience with a majority of experience
in consumer marketing and/or new media
Approximately 4+ years of marketing experience, preferably brand or direct
marketing experience at an advertising, PR, media buying or social media agency.
2-3+ years of hands on social media marketing and strategy experience with case
studies in the campaign and brand/company level
Knowledge of social media platforms and the latest marketing strategies, tactics and
emerging applications and technologies
Budget management, ability to create a strategic marketing budget that is realistic and
within client limits
Ability to think creatively and participate in ideation sessions with clients and internal
staff
Past experience as a brand / product management within a Fortune 500 brand, SEO or
SEM is helpful
Past experience in media buying is a plus
Ability to gather client requirements and effectively translate them into a cohesive
social media strategy, complete with associated work plans, suggested tactics and
milestones
Ability to interpret data and reports to optimize strategic recommendations
Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to present to VP
and C-level executives at a Fortune 500 client.
A team player who is able to handle stressful situations and deadline pressures calmly
Past experience in business development and/or account management is helpful
Able to plan and carryout responsibilities with minimal direction
