Triangle Table Tennis Business Development Manager Position Description Summary The Business Development Manager assists the President, Center Manager, and Head Coach in building the business of Triangle Table Tennis, through marketing and promotion, sales activities, public relations, social media, and web site updates. The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics to achieve the revenue, membership, participation, and related targets of the Center. Additionally, the Business Development Manager may occasionally serve as the site manager during hours in which the Center Manager or an Assistant Manager is not on site, and so must be prepared to be a back-up for most Center Manager responsibilities. Major Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies and tactics to achieve specific targets each quarter for: o Growth in Membership and related revenue o Growth in Group and Private Lesson participation and related revenue o Growth in Camp participation and related revenue o Growth in League participation and related revenue o Growth in Special Event participation and related revenue o Growth in Corporate sponsorships and related revenue o Growth in Pro Shop sales o Growth in Tournament participation and related revenue Perform effective outreach to local communities of interest (including senior citizens, corporate groups, religious or community groups, veterans, schools and universities, recreational or daycare programs, local workforce, members of other sports clubs, etc.) Capture, index, upload, and post photos, videos, and news items on social media and the Center’s web site to effectively promote the Center Maintain updated and accurate information on the Center’s web site, including event calendar, and online registrations for tournaments, group instruction, camps, leagues, memberships, and other offerings Draft, proof, publish, and distribute flyers, presentations, press releases, and other marketing literature Maintain updated marketing literature on racks and bulletin boards throughout Center, and at local outlets Develop customized proposals for corporate sponsorships and special events Develop and manage alliances with other organizations Manage marketing booth at targeted local, regional or national events Develop relationships with local media outlets, and generate media coverage for the Center Page 1 of 3 Triangle Table Tennis Business Development Manager Position Description Develop annual advertising plan and proposed budget, manage advertisement development and placement, and optimize return on approved advertising budget Assist with proposals and applications for specialized designations or events Generate monthly reporting on performance against participation, revenue, and profitability targets Experience Required Must have a bachelor’s degree; degree in marketing, business, sports management, or other related fields is highly preferred Must have at least one (1) year prior experience in business, marketing, web site management, sales, or sports management position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Must have experience in managing social media and WordPress web site Must pass a writing test Must possess a Driver’s License that is valid in NC, and be able to drive for sales and marketing calls Must pass a background investigation appropriate for a role that includes interaction with children, driving on center business, and handling of payments May be required to obtain specific training and technical certifications Desired Experience working in a sports-related business or community recreation facility Experience in sales Experience in online marketing Experience in playing table tennis and participating in table tennis tournaments Critical Competencies for Success Ability to engage positively and enthusiastically with members and visitors Ability to manage work activities, multi-task, and meet deadlines Ability to deal positively, tactfully and courteously with the public Ability and willingness to conduct sales and marketing calls (phone and in-person) Page 2 of 3 Triangle Table Tennis Business Development Manager Position Description Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher Ability to use online marketing tools, including: WordPress (for web site updates), MailChimp (for online newsletters), Google AdWords, etc. Ability to use online social media tools, including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Ability to establishing and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Competency in analyzing and reporting data Ability to develop compelling and attractive marketing materials Passion and enthusiasm for table tennis Special Position Requirements Must be willing and available to work on needed hours that might include morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, or holidays as needed to cover marketing events Must be willing to work additional hours as needed during Center’s major events (e.g., tournaments, special events) Must be willing to provide back-up for gaps in staffing, including on an unplanned or emergency back-up basis Page 3 of 3
