Course Name: Course Code: Course Units: History of Islamic Civilisation RSD 2111 3 Course Description Islamic Civilisation starts with the introduction of Islam into the world and continues to develop for as long as Islam as a religion and civilization continues to exist. This course intends to cover historical events starting with the pre-Islamic Arabia to the end of Abbasid caliphate. In short the following will be high lighted. Course Objectives To ground the students in a deeper knowledge of the spread of Islam in the Arab world and outside. To enable the student appreciate the Islamic Culture in comparison with his own culture. To help students interpret the origin of some cultures and discuss the various challenges faced by Islam in situating these differences.
